Diamond Diving

Aphrodite Diamonds has a direct connection to diamond recovery along South Africa’s rugged West Coast, where diamonds that have travelled through ancient river systems are recovered from beneath the Atlantic Ocean and along its shoreline.

Offshore, divers work from specialised vessels, using suction equipment to bring diamond-bearing gravel from the seabed to the surface. The material is carefully processed, separating the heavier minerals — including garnets, olivines and, occasionally, diamonds — from the surrounding gravel.

A similar recovery process takes place within the beach concession, where operations are conducted from land rather than from vessels at sea.

This connection to the source gives Aphrodite something increasingly rare in the world of fine jewellery: provenance. We know where many of our diamonds come from, how they were recovered and the journey they have taken before reaching our Stellenbosch workshop.

From the Atlantic seabed to the hands of our goldsmith, each diamond carries a story millions of years in the making.

Jewellery Design

Every piece begins with an idea. Whether creating something entirely new or reimagining an existing piece, we work closely with each client to develop a design that feels personal and enduring.

From selecting the right natural diamond to refining proportions, setting and detail, each decision is considered carefully before the piece reaches our Stellenbosch workshop.

The result is jewellery created for the person who will wear it — not simply for the moment, but for the years and generations that follow.

Manufacturing

Every Aphrodite piece is handcrafted in our Stellenbosch workshop, where traditional goldsmithing is combined with the precision required to bring each individual design to life.
Working in-house allows us to remain closely involved throughout the process — from the initial design and selection of the natural diamond through to setting, finishing and the final polish.
It is a slower, more considered way of making jewellery, but one that allows us to create pieces intended to be worn, treasured and eventually passed on.

Retail & Wholesale

Alongside our bespoke work, Aphrodite offers a considered selection of finished jewellery and natural diamonds from our Stellenbosch store.
Our collection includes pieces created in our own workshop, as well as exceptional natural diamonds individually selected for their beauty, character and quality.
We also supply natural diamonds to private clients, collectors and the trade, drawing on our long-standing relationships within the diamond industry and our direct connection to the source.
